How are you covering a shift last minute if a caregiver cannot show up?

Hi everybody, I’m currently spending the holidays in Canada.

I just finished playing hockey outdoors with my son. Ouff it’s cold. I cannot wait to be back in Boston and be with you guys.

Anyhow… as I’m pondering how Sam and I can help the home care industry, I have a few questions for you guys:

What happens when a caregiver calls sick at the last minute or does not show up? What happens when onboarding takes longer and you have a client on the sideline?

Have you been successful in getting independent caregivers or anyone else outside of your HR staff to do shifts with you last minute? Because of regulation, I’m assuming that this must not be feasible in many states.

Just a thought. Let us know your experience!
